Training Day 1

Today was AMAZING, albeit hectic!  Like a dream...

Part 1:
I woke up extra early determined to get a run in and see more of the city before heading to Brooks HQ later that morning for my first day of training and formal introduction to the team.

Early morning Seattle run
I saw Pikes Place Market...

The 'Original' Starbucks...

Starbucks location #1

And the Space Needle...

Space Needle
4 mile route I cruised through at a 6:14/avg pace, little faster than I wanted by c'est la vie.  For your information, Seattle IS NOT FLAT!

Part 2:
By 8:30am I was at Brooks HQ in the Fremont district (i.e. the center of the universe) of Seattle.  The building itself was AMAZING, and it houses some pretty stellar people as well.  Once again, I can't explain how fortunate I feel to be involved in the 2015 Run Happy Island Tour with Brooks Running.

Statue out in front of Brooks HQ made entirely of donated *earned* race medals that had been melted down.
The entire day was spent covering the history of the brand (did you know Mickey Mantle wore Brooks baseball cleats?!), shoes (Brooks Adrenaline GTS is the #1 selling running shoe in run specialty), and apparel (their socks wick moisture better than Coolmax* and they can prove it).  I met so many amazing, genuine people today who are not only passionate about their product but about running and the community as a whole.  I couldn't stop smiling the whole time.  I finished the day with a greater understanding of what my role - as Product and Gait Specialist - entailed plus an even greater enthusiasm to get on the road!

Brooks built a statue entirely out of macaroni to honor one of their Olympians

There is so much more I could share but I'm exhausted and tomorrow is another day of training!  Until then, #RunHappy!

Quirky company humor, love it
